May 1, 2025 – EU-US Forum Tip Sheet

Welcome to the EU-US Forum Weekly Tip Sheet, your go-to product for information about the EU-US Forum and its work, timely updates on the dangerous far-left ideas coming out of the European Union, and detailed analysis on the key players influencing European politics.

We send this out weekly to keep you apprised of the most important political and policy topics in Europe as we continue to work toward our mission of exposing the EU’s radical agenda and the threat it poses to the US and Western Civilization.

1. 🤨 EPP BACKTRACKS ON THEIR OWN IMMIGRATION POLICY

Oh, how the tables turn…

According to a new leaked draft resolution from the European People’s Party (EPP), the party is branching out to include several immigration policies that have been championed most by national conservative groups… FINALLY.

While the rise of the conservative movement surges across Europe, it seems some in Brussels are coming to their senses after seeing the destruction of mass illegal immigration.

It’s no surprise the EPP is finally echoing the strong, common-sense border policies that conservatives in Hungary championed years ago. But something the resolution and the party fail to mention is the fact that Brussels punished Hungary for implementing these similar policies.

Remember, in June of last year, the European Commission fined Hungary €200 million for “breaking the EU’s asylum laws and ignoring an earlier judgment.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was outraged by the decision:

So… why the change of heart? Because the dangers of unchecked illegal immigration can no longer be ignored, not in Europe and certainly not in the United States.

President Trump is leading with a bold anti-illegal immigration agenda that has brought down illegal border crossing substantially, and Europe is watching and hopefully learning. The will of the people is clear: nations have a right and a duty to defend their borders. Hungary stood firm when it mattered. Now it’s time for the rest of Europe to follow their lead.

2. 🇫🇷 JORDAN BARDELLA STEPS UP

In a move last month that has sent shockwaves across France, Marine Le Pen, the leading figure of the National Rally party and a frontrunner for the 2027 presidential election, was barred from holding public office for five years and fined millions. This decision effectively removes her from the upcoming race, despite her significant support among the French populace.

But now, the leader of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, has stepped forward, announcing his readiness to run for the presidency if Le Pen’s appeal does not overturn the ban.

In an interview this weekend with Le Parisien, Bardella said:

Marine Le Pen is my candidate and, if she were to be prevented [from running] tomorrow, I think I can tell you that I will be her candidate. I cannot be clearer than that.

At just 29 years of age, Bardella has rapidly ascended the political ranks, earning popularity, particularly among younger voters, and positioning himself as a prominent figure within the National Rally.

With favorability ratings from his party members outpacing Le Pen at 60%, Bardella is a political force to be reckoned with. He’s young, sharp, and unapologetically patriotic. His leadership is firing up the base.

Interestingly enough, Bardella has also been a victim of the far Left’s censorship regime. In November 2024, he published his first book Ce que je cherche, which was quickly censored by French bookstores and distribution networks who aimed to limit visibility.

The French establishment may think they’ve won by taking Le Pen out of the race, but they’ve only lit a fire under the conservatives in France. Bardella is ready, and people are listening.

🌊 VDL DODGES MEETING WITH STRUGGLING VALENCIA FLOOD VICTIMS

While the scars of last October’s devastating floods in Valencia remain fresh, families displaced, businesses destroyed, and infrastructure in ruins, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen chose to sidestep the suffering during her visit to the city for a political event for her party.

Despite being mere miles from the disaster zone, VDL declined to meet with victims. Instead, she scheduled a closed-door session in Brussels weeks later, forcing survivors to bear the financial and emotional burden of travel to be heard.

This isn’t a one-off; it’s a disturbing pattern. Political elites prioritize their political aspirations over genuine engagement.

The victims’ associations hoped to convey the dire situation firsthand, with a letter to VDL emphasizing the ongoing hardships and the lack of effective aid. Yet, her choice to willingly ignore this reflects her elitism, more concerned about her power than with addressing the needs of the public.

The people of Valencia deserve more than distant sympathies; they need action and accountability.
