April 4, 2024 – EU-US Forum Tip Sheet

Welcome to the EU-US Forum Weekly Tip Sheet, your go-to product for information about the EU-US Forum and its work, timely updates on the dangerous far-left ideas coming out of the European Union, and detailed analysis on the key players influencing European politics.

We send this out weekly to keep you apprised of the most important political and policy topics in Europe as we continue to work toward our mission of exposing the EU’s radical agenda and the threat it poses to the US and Western Civilization.

1. SCOTLAND HATES FREE SPEECH?: Scotland’s expansive anti-free speech law went into effect Monday and to no surprise, the police became overwhelmed by incoming “hate crime” complaints. The workload has been heavy on the police, as they received the same number of complaints in the first 24 hours of enactment that they got all of last year. Scottish Parliament Member Rachael Hamilton stated, “Many thousands of minor crime incidents will not be investigated and serious crime will bear the brunt of an already strained [police] service.”

The new law makes it a crime to “behave in a manner that a reasonable person would consider to be threatening or abusive.” This vague language will surely be weaponized against conservatives in the weeks and months ahead.

Check out our latest video on how Europe’s elimination of free speech is traveling across the Atlantic to the US.

What They Are Saying:

  • @CharlotteCGill: There’s a shameful lack of artists speaking out against Scotland’s tyrannical hate crime act. How can JK Rowling be one of the few authors to challenge it? How did it suddenly become uncool to like free speech?!

  • @jk_rowling: I hope every woman in Scotland who wishes to speak up for the reality and importance of biological sex will be reassured by this announcement, and I trust that all women – irrespective of profile or financial means – will be treated equally under the law.

  • @DanaLoeschRadio: .@DLoesch breaks down Scotland’s new INSANE hate speech law protecting trans people and praises @jk_rowling’s rightful criticism. #DanaRadio

2. THE EU MISSES THE MARK ON IMMIGRATION: A whopping 16% of European voters believe the EU is doing a good job of handling illegal, or as the poll states, “irregular” migration. The poll also found in Denmark that illegal immigration is a priority or “important but not a priority” to almost every single voter. Only 8% see it as a secondary issue.

See the graph below for other member state voters’ opinions on illegal immigration. Look familiar? It should, because we’re having almost the same problem here in the U.S. with massive numbers of illegal immigrants coming into our country and voters waking up to the danger that it poses to our country.

Additionally, Ireland’s leftist Sinn Féin Party dropped their support for the EU’s Asylum and Migration Pact stating, “We simply do not have enough beds in our IPAS system to continue accommodating people who should be in other EU countries,” and that “these are not matters for the EU to dictate to us.”

These comments came just days before almost 500 migrants arrived in Cyprus, setting a new record for one of the EU’s smallest states. And 74 migrants were found this week crossing the Mediterranean off of Crete, Greece. Authorities have estimated those coming to Crete paid smuggler gangs up to $5,000 per person.

3. PFIZERGATE? EU prosecutors are investigating criminal wrongdoing between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the CEO of Pfizer as it relates to vaccine negotiations. Learn more HERE.

From the European Conservative: “Von der Leyen, who is seeking a second term in the top job, has been dogged by “Pfizergate” — a series of legal challenges centered around an alleged exchange of text messages between the Commission chief and Pfizer boss Albert Bourla in the run-up to the EU’s mega vaccine deal during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

VIRAL MOMENT OUT OF THE EU:

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING:

  • @ALX: Who will pick the crops!?

  • @WallStreetSilv: Homeowners in the UK have been told that “compulsory selling of home” will be enforced to house illegal migrants … Elderly people are being told their houses are too big for them and they need to sell. This must be a joke.

  • @EuropeImmigran: Illegal immigrants with knives, machetes and guns set out from Tunisia to Lampedusa, Italy. Soon Europe will have new criminal machines.

  • @EuroConOfficial: Cyprus Grapples With Record Number of Migrants “We are at our limit,” the government noted after convening an emergency meeting.

Thought an entire ocean could keep the EU’s radical ideas away? Think again.

Biden and Pelosi are in lockstep with the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Migration Chief Ylva Johansson.

On the border wall:
Von der Leyen: “In the commission and with the European Parliament, there will be no funding of barbed wire and walls.”
Biden: “There will not be another foot of wall constructed in my administration.”

On increasing illegal immigration:
Johansson: “The legal migration should grow more or less with 1 million per year. And that is really a challenge.”
Pelosi: “Why are you shipping these immigrants up north? We need them to pick the crops down here.”
Johansson: “Investing in legal pathways, in legal migration, in labor migration, because we need that. Our labor market are lacking a lot of labor force.”

On asylum:
Pelosi: “We also must honor our responsibilities in terms of asylum and the rest.”
Von der Leyen: “We have with all the frontline member states now explicit contingency plans to welcome and host immediately those refugees.”
