Last week, President Trump demonstrated once again that he will not allow wealthy allies to continue benefiting from American strength without paying their fair share. At NATO, allies have now committed to raising defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2035, generating a cumulative “Trump Trillion” in additional spending since Trump’s first term. In 2025 alone, allies purchased $54 billion in U.S. defense equipment, supporting nearly 200,000 American jobs. The President secured $3 billion in new defense deals, covering missile production, drone acquisitions, and expanded European partnerships that benefit U.S. manufacturing.

The message is clear: the era of one-sided arrangements is over. Now, that same accountability must extend to pharmaceutical innovation.

For too long, European governments have imposed aggressive price controls on American-developed medicines while their citizens benefited from every breakthrough those medicines represent. New research by the Office of Health Policy shows Americans account for nearly 80% of the innovative revenue for drugs launched between 2020 and 2025. No other country comes close. That gap is the direct result of foreign government policy that shifts the burden of R&D costs onto American patients, who effectively subsidize the healthcare systems of wealthy nations that simply opt out of paying full price.

When wealthy allies refuse to pay fair prices for prescription drugs, they don’t just harm American companies. They threaten the innovation pipeline that patients around the world depend on.

The Trump administration took critical action in June by launching a Section 301 investigation into Germany’s underpayment for innovative pharmaceuticals. The investigation will assess whether Germany’s pricing policies unfairly burden U.S. commerce and warrant a stronger response.

Germany answered by doubling down. Last week, the German Bundestag passed a sweeping overhaul of the country’s statutory health insurance system in its final session before the summer recess. The legislation forces additional drug-price reductions on pharmaceutical companies as part of a broader push to cut billions of euros in health system costs. The Bundesrat cleared the bill the same day, putting the law on track to take effect January 1. Germany already imposes strict price controls that strip billions of dollars annually from innovation. This new law makes a bad situation significantly worse.

Germany is not the only concern. Switzerland is advancing new pricing restrictions that expand administrative price controls and impose mandatory volume-based clawbacks of up to 40% on innovative medicines. The implications extend far beyond Switzerland’s borders. Not only will these measures reduce the recognized value of life-saving medications and dilute future innovation, they contribute to a global pricing spiral that has direct implications for the availability of innovative medicines worldwide.

These are state-induced price control mechanisms that create real trade-policy exposure and warrant Section 301 scrutiny.

The Administration has laid the groundwork and is right to continue pressing high-income trading partners to contribute more to financing pharmaceutical innovation. A trade agreement framework that includes meaningful commitments on innovative medicine spending is not just a health policy goal. It is a national security and economic competitiveness imperative.

NATO allies finally heard the message on defense spending. It is time for Europe and Switzerland to hear it on life-saving medications.

The European Commission made it official this week: it intends to designate Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure as “gatekeepers” under the Digital Markets Act. Don’t be fooled by the technocratic language. This is protectionism with a Brussels accent.

The DMA was sold to the world as a tool to rein in dominant platforms where real monopoly power exists, think dominant search engines, app stores, and social networks that billions of people have no practical alternative to. Cloud computing is none of those things. The EU knows it. That’s why no American cloud service provider meets the DMA’s own quantitative thresholds for gatekeeper designation. The Commission is moving forward anyway.

That’s not enforcement. That’s improvisation in service of an agenda.

The EU’s “tech sovereignty” project has been transparent in its goals for years: tilt the regulatory playing field against American technology companies and toward European alternatives. The DMA cloud investigation is the latest chapter. AWS has committed tens of billions of euros to data centers across France, Germany, Spain, and beyond. Microsoft Azure has made similarly massive European investments. These companies are not extracting value from Europe, they are building it. Gatekeeper designation is the reward they get for it.

The legal rationale here is thin to the point of embarrassment. Cloud services don’t intermediate between businesses and consumers the way the DMA envisions. There’s no platform dynamic. There’s no gateway. Applying a framework designed for two-sided platforms to enterprise cloud infrastructure is a category error, and European regulators are sophisticated enough to know that.

What makes this even harder to justify: Europe already regulates cloud. The EU Data Act regulates interoperability, portability, and customer switching mechanisms, exactly the issues the Commission claims to be investigating. The cloud sector is already highly competitive, with more than 70 percent of European customers using multiple providers and prices continuing to fall.

The costs here are real. Layering duplicative DMA obligations on top of the Data Act framework creates compliance burdens that hit American companies hardest. That’s not incidental, it’s the point. Regulatory unpredictability chills investment. Infrastructure dollars that would have flowed to European data centers will go elsewhere, and the jobs, skills, and capacity go with them. European businesses relying on cutting-edge cloud and AI capabilities will be the collateral damage.

US leaders need to keep fighting back against these draconian actions by the EU. This is not a routine regulatory disagreement. It is a pattern of discriminatory action against American companies that are playing by the rules, investing in Europe, and serving European customers well. If Brussels faces no consequences for stretching its own law to punish American success, it will keep doing it.

Welcome to the EU-US Forum Weekly Tip Sheet, your go-to product for information about the EU-US Forum and its work, timely updates on the dangerous far-left ideas coming out of the European Union, and detailed analysis on the key players influencing European politics.

We send this out weekly to keep you apprised of the most important political and policy topics in Europe as we continue to work toward our mission of exposing the EU’s radical agenda and the threat it poses to the US and Western Civilization.

EUROPE’S HEAT WAVE EXPOSES FAILED GREEN POLICIES

A heatwave is gripping much of Europe, with temperatures nearing 40°C (100°F) across Italy, Spain, and France.

The EU has set a legally binding target to cut emissions 55 percent below 1990 levels by 2030, but as of 2024, it has come up short on that goal, leaving a significant gap with just a few years to go.

Once again, Europe is unprepared. More Europeans die from heat each year than Americans die from gun violence, and a big difference is affordable energy for air conditioning, something Green energy policy has put increasingly out of reach.

On top of that, policies like the CSDDD and CSRD make it hard for energy companies to operate in Europe. With energy prices on the rise, the EU has succumbed to another deadly heatwave.

Germany’s household electricity prices are now the fifth highest in the world, driven by a rapid exit from nuclear and coal without sufficient alternatives, a cost environment so damaging that even Playmobil, one of Germany’s most iconic manufacturers, announced this week it is shutting down its last production facility in Bavaria and moving operations abroad.

Decades of overregulation have kept electricity expensive and energy supply unreliable. With CSDDD and CSRD, Europe is trying to export this same failed Green agenda. President Trump is standing in their way, and can protect Americans from Brussels’ overreach once and for all with a targeted executive order.

2. GERMAN ESTABLISHMENT MOVES THE GOALPOSTS

With the AfD polling at 42% in Saxony-Anhalt and poised to win an outright majority in September’s state election, Germany’s ruling parties aren’t changing their message. They’re changing the rules.

State interior ministers are exploring ways to cut AfD-led governments off from federal intelligence databases and interstate security cooperation. The stated justification is “protecting the constitution.” But the real justification is harder to miss: if an AfD interior minister gained access to these files, it would reveal just how politically motivated the years-long surveillance campaign against the party truly was.

The establishment may be severely miscalculating. The latest national polling puts AfD at 29% nationwide, ahead of the centrist CDU at 22%. Every rule change designed to wall off the opposition appears to be making it stronger.

1. EU REGULATION BACKFIRES, EMISSIONS RISE

For all of Brussels’ climate ambition, the EU actually saw its greenhouse gas emissions rise in 2025. The bloc released 3.34 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent last year, an increase from 2024, according to preliminary Eurostat data. After years of aggressive Green Deal policymaking, the EU’s emissions-cutting momentum has visibly stalled.

The EU has set a legally binding target to cut emissions 55 percent below 1990 levels by 2030, but as of 2024, it has come up short on that goal, leaving a significant gap with just a few years to go.

Transport emissions remain essentially stagnant, and heating emissions actually rose in 2025. These sectors that touch everyday life, including how people get around and heat their homes, are not improving. The European Commission is now floating a bloc-wide electrification target to address the gap, which is effectively an admission that years of overregulation haven’t done the job.

The EU has staked enormous political capital and imposed massive costs on businesses on its radical climate agenda. The 2025 numbers are an uncomfortable reminder that their far-left climate policies do not work. And while Europe grapples with its own failures, Brussels is actively pushing to export these egregious regulations, the CSRD, CSDDD, and the rest of the EU’s sprawling ESG rulebook, onto American companies. Why should we allow U.S. businesses to comply with legislative burdens designed by regulators who can’t even come close to hitting their own targets?

The EU’s Transparency Register just suspended MCC Brussels, one of the most prominent conservative think tanks in Europe.

The suspension limits MCC’s access to EU institutions, including meetings with Commission officials and European Parliament accreditation. MCC Brussels is appealing the decision, arguing plainly that bureaucrats are using an administrative technicality to silence a dissenting voice.

The technical pretext is a rule against organizations registering multiple times across different national branches. But MCC Brussels spent over a year cooperating fully with the investigation, answered every request made of them, and was suspended anyway.

Executive Director Frank Furedi says this fits a four-year pattern of targeting, including Brussels mayors attempting to shut down the National Conservatism Conference in 2024, a ban later thrown out by Belgian courts. A system designed to “guarantee openness” is being turned into a tool for ideological gatekeeping, and the EU isn’t trying very hard to hide it.

Last month, President Trump set a bold goal to complete a trade framework with the EU by July 4. Recent actions from Brussels, however, threaten to thwart the potential agreement ahead of America’s 250th birthday.

The EU’s regulatory framework which has bled US companies dry for years is poised to further inflame the transatlantic relationship with a fine against Google for hundreds of millions that is expected to be announced in the coming days, and a recently-publicized DMA probe into Apple’s cloud services.

American firms aren’t the only ones bearing the costs of Brussels’ predatory agenda though. Europeans have begun to feel the impact of the DMA too through increased prices, heightened security vulnerabilities, and missing out on new features like Siri AI.

President Trump has not stopped fighting against what he’s aptly characterized as “overseas extortion,” and as the trade negotiations continue, no one is more prepared to ensure concessions are extracted from the EU on this issue during talks.

If, however, the EU and the US fail to reach an agreement next month to succeed the 2025 Turnberry Truce, Europe will only have itself to blame for undermining any chance at a deal with a regulatory crusade it simply refuses to abandon.

What’s happening in Europe right now should alarm every American who cares about jobs, innovation, and national sovereignty. The European Union has quietly advanced a regulatory agenda that could soon reach across the Atlantic, forcing American businesses to comply with European rules written by unelected bureaucrats. These new mandates would reshape how companies operate, what they disclose, and even who they can do business with, regardless of U.S. law.

Leaders in the European Union proposed changes to the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, known as CS3D, and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, known as CSRD, that may sound technical, but the consequences for the United States would be devastating.

In plain language, these rules would require any U.S. company operating in the EU to track, report, and disclose every link in their supply chain for ESG madness. CS3D, for example, could make an American manufacturer legally responsible for the labor or environmental practices of suppliers halfway around the world. CSRD would force businesses to publish detailed sustainability reports under EU-defined standards, even if they never sell directly to European consumers.(RELATED: Toddlers Could Legally Change Gender Under New European Union Proposal)

For many U.S. businesses, this is practically impossible. A small or mid-sized company might have hundreds of suppliers and subcontractors. Tracking each one to comply with European paperwork could take thousands of hours and millions of dollars. Those costs would be passed on to American workers and consumers.

American companies are justly calling out these out-of-touch, business-killing regulations. Several attorneys general are warning about the “severe burdens” American companies would face.

These regulations would give the EU authority over how American companies are governed, even when those companies are operating inside our own borders. This represents an unprecedented intrusion by a foreign body into the American economy, and it would cost our businesses billions of dollars. The ripple effects would be higher costs, lower growth, and fewer opportunities for workers.

The EU’s leadership often cloaks these efforts in language about sustainability or transparency. But behind the rhetoric is a simple fact: This is about exporting a far-left agenda that voters in the United States have repeatedly rejected. If allowed to stand, these rules would undermine American sovereignty and hand control of our economy to unelected regulators in Brussels. That cannot be tolerated.

President Donald Trump understands the stakes. He knows that prosperity at home requires strength abroad. He has already drawn a firm line against Europe’s harmful regulations on a number of fronts, and Americans should be cheering him on again to do so on CS3D and CSRD. America cannot accept a situation where our companies are regulated by foreign governments. Nor can we allow hard-won economic momentum to be stalled by European bureaucrats who do not answer to the American people.

The president has a powerful tool at his disposal. Right now, the United States and the European Union are in the early stages of implementing a new trade deal. That agreement could be conditioned on the EU abandoning its attempt to impose CS3D and CSRD on American companies. The message would be unmistakable: If the EU insists on these rules, the trade deal will not move forward. Only by making the costs of their actions clear will European leaders change course.

Trump can protect the Golden Age he has worked so hard to launch. He can make clear that American companies will not be ruled from Brussels. He can stand firm in defense of our workers, our industries, and our economic future. With Trump’s strong leadership, America can continue down the path to lasting prosperity.

Matt Mowers and Joe Grogan are senior advisors to the EU-US Forum, an American nonprofit organization that aims to advance President Trump’s conservative agenda in Europe and stop the EU’s radical leftism from coming to the US.

Mowers previously served as a Senior White House Advisor at the U.S. Department of State in President Trump’s first administration. Grogan previously served as the Director of the Domestic Policy Council in President Trump’s first administration.

1. DC TO BRUSSELS: KEEP CENSORSHIP OUT OF OUR COUNTRY

In a bold move, Rep. Jim Jordan and fellow US House Judiciary Committee members are pushing back against the European Union’s censorship agenda.

They’ve sent a stern letter to EU Commissioner Michael McGrath, warning that Europe’s Digital Services Act (DSA) and Poland’s alleged recent efforts to use government power to silence political opponents could threaten free speech, even across the Atlantic.

The letter highlights concerns over the Tusk government’s actions, including prosecuting opposition figures and revoking media licenses, suggesting a troubling trend of suppressing dissent.

It reads, in part:

“We respectfully request a briefing on the EU’s position and actions regarding these troubling developments. Please ask EU staff to arrange a briefing as soon as possible to address how the EU is ensuring Prime Minister Tusk’s government is respecting due process, freedom of expression, and the rule of law, as enshrined in EU treaties… The fear is that such practices, under the guise of combating “disinformation,” might set a precedent that chills American speech.”

These Congressional lawmakers are standing up alongside Vice President JD Vance, who has made it a point to push back against the EU’s censorship regime. At the Munich Security Conference in February, VP JD Vance said:

“You cannot win a democratic mandate by censoring your opponents or putting them in jail — whether that’s the leader of the opposition, a humble Christian praying in her own home, or a journalist trying to report the news. Nor can you win one by disregarding your basic electorate on questions like who gets to be a part of our shared society.”

As the EU tightens its grip on online content, American lawmakers are drawing a line in the sand: free speech is non-negotiable.

This isn’t just about Europe; it’s about safeguarding the fundamental rights that define democracy.

2. MACRON TURNS HIS BACK ON THE PEOPLE – AGAIN

French President Emmanuel Macron is once again ignoring the will of the people… this time on one of the most pressing issues in Europe: mass migration.

Despite growing pressure from within his own government, Macron flat-out rejected calls for a national referendum on immigration policy.

In a Tuesday evening interview with French broadcaster TF1, Macron announced plans to “organize several referendums in the coming months” on key issues. While he did not give specific policies, Breitbart says, Macron “specifically rejected referendums on his contentious pension reforms as well as on immigration.”

With cities strained, tensions rising, and voters across Europe sounding the alarm, Macron is doubling down on elite, top-down governance.

National Rally members like Laure Lavalette have spoken out against Macron’s failures:

“Emmanuel Macron’s admission on immigration is terrible.
His problem is not the legal entry of 3 million people.
The problem is that they are not distributed enough across the country.
Mass immigration is his project.
#Macron20h10”

The French PM François Bayrou has already acknowledged that France is close to being “submerged” by mass migration, yet still nothing is done about it.

Europe is in crisis, and leaders who fail to listen to their people subvert so-called democracy.

CENSORSHIP IN DISGUISE: BRUSSELS NEW “DISINFORMATION” AGENCY

In a move that should raise eyebrows among defenders of free speech, Swedish MEP Tomas Tobé (EPP) has proposed the creation of a new EU agency dedicated to combating so-called “foreign disinformation.”

While the stated goal is to protect European democracies from external manipulation, the implications for freedom of expression are deeply concerning.

The EU-US Forum posted on X:

This proposed agency would likely have sweeping powers to monitor and regulate online content, determining what constitutes “disinformation” and taking action against it.

And, given the EU’s track record with initiatives like the Digital Services Act, which already encroaches on free speech, this new agency would further centralize control over information and suppress dissenting voices.

Their definition of “foreign disinformation” can be turned into something completely subjective. By labeling content as “disinformation,” the EU will ultimately stifle healthy democratic debate and infringe on individual liberties.

The EU’s actions need REAL reform. This is serious.

1. FREEDOM REBRAND? THE ECONOMIST GIVES IT A NEW MEANING

In a recent piece that’s raising eyebrows, The Economist claimed that Europe has taken over America’s role as the “Land of the Free.” The outlet needs a reality check…

The truth is, across Europe, basic freedoms are under siege. European countries have implemented policies that restrict free speech and individual liberties.

Instances such as the arrest of individuals for silent prayer outside abortion clinics in the UK, or the two men who were arrested for posting their views about unchecked illegal immigration, are just some examples that highlight concerns about the erosion of fundamental freedoms in Europe. That’s not freedom, that’s government-approved behavior with a leash.

REMEMBER: CBS aired a segment on 60 Minutes conducting a ride-along with German police to raid a citizen’s home for online “hate speech.”

State prosecutors gleefully said that it’s a crime to insult people.

If the Economist wants to call this “freedom,” they’ve lost what was left of their credibility.

The article’s portrayal of Europe’s approach to “free” speech, emphasizing boundaries and censorship, is the complete opposite of America’s tradition of total freedom of expression.

Calling Europe the new beacon of liberty? That’s not just wishful thinking — it’s rewriting the whole meaning of freedom.

2. HUNGARY GETS IT

“In Hungary, common sense matters.”

Defying the craziness of the progressive ideology sweeping across Europe, Hungary has taken a stand for biological truth. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s government has amended the nation’s constitution to affirm that individuals are either male or female—a declaration rooted in science, not social constructs.

PM Viktor Orbán posted on X about the victory:

Hungary is unapologetically defending our next generation and the sanctity of the family unit. By codifying these principles into its constitution, Hungary sends a clear message: it will not bow to external pressures that seek to redefine fundamental truths.

In an era where Western nations are entangled in debates over gender identity, Hungary’s stance is a reminder that some countries still value clarity over confusion, and biology over ideology.

EU HANDS OVER CONTROL TO W.H.O.

The European Union is on the brink of handing over significant control of its pandemic response to the World Health Organization (WHO) through a new treaty. Yes, the same WHO that botched COVID from day one.

You’d think, after the disaster that was COVID-19, world leaders would be less eager to hand over power to global health bureaucrats. The WHO’s response to COVID-19 was marked by delays and missteps. It was slow to declare a global emergency, and its deference to China compromised the transparency and effectiveness of the global response.

FLASHBACK: In February, Jason Miller, Senior Advisor to President Donald Trump, spoke to members of the Italian Senate about why President Trump decided to withdraw the U.S. from the WHO and urged the Italian government to follow suit.

“If the WHO is going to be effectively pawns for China and for the CCP, then we have to make our voices heard.

That’s why the leadership from folks like Senator Claudio Borghi is so critical, and why the EU-US Forum is so important at this stage right now, because we have to use this commonality that we have. We have to use the pressure that we are able to exert to force the WHO to be responsive to member nations. This is something that can no longer continue in its current function. It has to be something where we take it back over and make sure that they’re following in a way that actually is representative of people, and as we saw with President Trump, in his very strong words, with regard to the WHO before, they have to go and actually bring some aspect of sensibility back to the organization.”

Yet the EU still wants to lock in a treaty that would let WHO call the shots on future pandemics. Lockdowns, vaccine mandates, border closures… all coordinated from Geneva. And they’re even floating the idea of a global vaccine passport. That’s not public health, that’s centralized control with zero accountability.

Nigel Farage and other leaders have launched campaigns against the treaty, emphasizing the need for nations to retain control over their public health policies.

The fact that the EU is even entertaining this is insane! If COVID taught us anything, it’s that giving unelected international bodies sweeping power over our lives is a terrible idea. National sovereignty matters and transparency MATTER; the WHO has proven it is not up to the task on either.

1. POLL: One in Three Europeans Expect a Drop in Their Living Standards

New polling from the European Parliament’s Eurobarometer reveals the disastrous effects of the EU’s progressive policies. While the EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen boasts about the toplines, the most important results are in the details.

53% of the French and 47% of Germans say they are struggling with declining living standards, which is, in part, the outcome of overregulation and socialist ideals.

Because Brussels continues to push extreme environmental and regulatory policies, European citizens and businesses are paying the price, with more than half reporting a drop in their living standards.

Of course, VDL is outright ignoring the less-than-great economic conditions Europeans are facing…

Luckily, President Trump is committed to saving the U.S. from the radical leftist policies that seem to have a chokehold on Europe.

This new polling reflects the same findings from the EU-US Forum in January — 82% of EU citizens polled said their cost of living has risen dramatically and most say their financial situation has gotten worse in the past year.

This is what happens when governments prioritize ideological agendas over economic stability.

2. MIGRANTS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAJORITY OF VIOLENT CRIMES

New findings out of Germany show a troubling picture of the consequences of radical open border policies.

Data from Berlin proves a disproportionate amount of violent crimes are linked to foreign nationals. Non-German males were responsible for 52.2% of violent crimes in 2024.

The results are undeniable: unchecked immigration and lax enforcement endanger public safety. Leaders pushing these radical, open border policies owe their citizens answers — and solutions.

The European Conservative reports:

“According to police statistics, of the 12,284 male suspects arrested last year, 6,407 did not have a German passport.
This means that foreigners are overrepresented when it comes to violent crime: Foreigners make up 24.9% of Berlin’s population, yet an astounding 52.2% of male criminals do not possess a German passport—the rate for this was 50.5% in 2023.”

Even with this data, Germany’s socialist party is still pushing to intake 500,000 migrants per year. Members of Germany’s AfD party rightfully call the move “demographic suicide.”

Germany’s open-border experiment has led to a surge in violent crime. Will leaders wake up before it’s too late?

3. PARTY PROHIBITION IN GERMANY

The ruling party is TERRIFIED.

AfD’s popularity is still on the rise in Germany — They are just two points behind the CDU, and their popularity is growing even higher since the German election.

Now: the ruling party’s leaders are so afraid of losing their power that they’re willing to SILENCE their opposition.

The CDU and the Green party are again calling for a ban on the AfD, now saying the need to ban the conservative party “as soon as possible.”

REMINDER: The AfD is overwhelmingly popular and recently earned over 20% of German support in the recent elections because of their strong conservative stances on immigration and censorship.

The CDU’s latest push to ban their very popular opposition proves once again that the left only wants “democracy” when they’re in complete control.

When the Left can’t win on ideas, they resort to censorship and authoritarianism.

EU’S “OVERSEAS EXTORTION”

The European Union is ramping up its war against American companies, targeting Meta with a potential $1 billion fine.

Brussels’ bureaucrats are hitting Meta for allegedly violating the Digital Markets Act but are much more interested in punishing successful businesses than fostering competition.

President Trump called the EU penalties “overseas extortion.”

Is this about fairness? Or control?

The EU is looking for any opportunity to stifle innovation, also taking issue with Apple for “allegedly breaching landmark rules.”

This move to fine Meta isn’t about competition, it’s about POWER. Brussels’ real goal? Expand government control over digital platforms in the EU and overseas.

President Trump has spoken out previously against these constant ridiculous attacks on American companies, stating:

“Whether you like them or not, they’re American companies, and [the EU] shouldn’t be doing that. That’s, as far as I’m concerned, it’s a form of taxation. So, we have some very big complaints with the EU.”

Instead of Brussels dictating the rules, they should promote policies that empower innovation and consumer choice.

WASHINGTON — The EU-US Forum, an American nonprofit organization that aims to advance President Trump’s conservative agenda in Europe and stop the EU’s radical leftism from coming to the US, conducted polling in five European Union member states that found citizens largely feel the EU is moving in the wrong direction and are frustrated with high taxes, government inefficiency, and the rise of the far left.

On behalf of the EU-US Forum, the Tyson Group conducted public opinion surveys in five European Union member states: France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and Portugal from January 13 – January 22, 2025.

The poll largely found that EU citizens are disappointed with current leadership and conservative sentiments and policies are overwhelmingly popular.

Highlights include:

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has a net -4 favorability rating across all five EU member states polled. In her home country of Germany, von der Leyen is underwater, with 60% disapproving or are unsure of the job she’s doing.

After experiencing not one but two government collapses in the past year, 74% of French citizens disapprove of the job President Emmanuel Macron is doing in France.

A staggering 70% of Germans disapprove of Chancellor Olaf Scholz. This comes as Germany’s conservative party, AfD, is on the rise ahead of Germany’s elections.

A significant portion of French (73%) and Italian (63%) respondents expressed uncertainty or disagreement with the EU’s lack of representativeness for recent EU election outcomes where conservative parties gained significant victories.

Nearly a majority of respondents said their personal financial situation has worsened in the past year.

Conservative sentiments are overwhelmingly popular in Europe: reestablishing domestic food production (83% approve) and implementing harsher border controls to reduce the flood of illegal migrants (72% approve).

Following the political chaos that France and Germany have faced in the past year, respondents in these countries believe, by a wide margin, that the rise of the far left is a bad thing: 84% and 61% respectively.

Alex Alvarado, Tyson Group Vice President, said in a memo about the poll:

“A significant portion of citizens feel the EU is moving in the wrong direction, largely due to concerns over its leftist agenda and leaders like European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Macron and German Chancellor Scholz who face high disapproval ratings.

Many respondents also feel that recent EU election outcomes, which saw significant gains by conservative parties, are not accurately reflected in the EU’s policies. Issues like the rising cost of living, healthcare, and migration remain top concerns, while conservative solutions like stricter border controls and a focus on domestic food production garnered widespread support. This survey highlights a clear shift toward conservatism across Europe, with citizens expressing frustration with high taxes, government inefficiency, and the perceived rise of the far-left.”
