January 15, 2026 – EU-US Forum Tip Sheet

Welcome to the EU-US Forum Weekly Tip Sheet, your go-to product for information about the EU-US Forum and its work, timely updates on the dangerous far-left ideas coming out of the European Union, and detailed analysis on the key players influencing European politics.

We send this out weekly to keep you apprised of the most important political and policy topics in Europe as we continue to work toward our mission of exposing the EU’s radical agenda and the threat it poses to the US and Western Civilization.

1. 🇺🇸 PRESIDENT TRUMP FIRES BACK AGAINST EU ESG REGS

President Trump recently took to Truth Social to push back on the EU’s ESG directives. President Trump posted a Financial Times op-ed from US Ambassador to the EU Andrew Puzder that highlighted how the CSDDD is destroying business growth in Europe. Trump called the article “100% CORRECT!

Matt Mowers, EU-US Forum Board Member and former Senior White House Advisor at the U.S. Department of State, made the following statement:

Thank you, President Trump for agreeing 100% that the European Union must repeal its growth-killing CSDDD. This extraterritorial directive is Brussels’ attempt to export their ESG bureaucracy to the United States, saddle our companies with massive compliance costs, and stunt American innovation. Any trade deal with the EU must include scrapping all extraterritoriality tied to the CSDDD and CSRD in the EU’s omnibus package. I applaud President Trump for drawing a clear line and defending U.S. competitiveness, and protecting American jobs.

In light of President Trump’s Truth Social post, the EU-US Forum posted to X saying, “President Trump is right: Repeal the EU’s growth-killing CSDDD and CSRD. The EU is trying to punish American companies with extraterritorial overreach. President Trump won’t let that happen.

President Trump and his administration have been fighting back against radical mandates out of Brussels, protecting American workers and businesses. Thank you, President Trump, for fighting to keep America FIRST!

2.💸 EU PROFITS OFF AMERICAN INNOVATION

2024 was a profitable year for the EU, though not because of its own success. Brussels raked in a whopping €3.8 billion in fines from American tech companies like Amazon, Apple, and Uber through its digital regulatory framework, far surpassing the €3.2 billion in combined taxes Europe collected from its own publicly listed tech firms.

President Trump responded to this shocking realization this week on Truth Social, stating, “This is very unfair for our Tech Companies, and for the United States of America!

The news was also slammed by conservatives on X, such as Alex Bruesewitz, who denounced the milestone, saying, “The Europeans can’t create their own innovative companies, so they basically steal from American companies to fund their own failed socialist governments.

Even as their own tech companies continue to lag behind their American counterparts, the EU has shown it isn’t interested in tackling the root causes behind their lack of competitiveness. Reform proposals like the one former Italian PM Mario Draghi recommended last year have fallen on deaf ears, while EU lawmakers calling for stricter enforcement and additional regulations have too frequently won out. Instead, regulators in Brussels are content to use U.S. tech firms as their own piggy bank, even as Europeans grapple with weakened security features and degraded app functionality.

Unfortunately for Brussels, the Trump Administration has shown an appetite to fight on behalf of American companies, and if the EU continues to treat U.S tech giants as just a revenue stream, expect it to be an ugly one.

🇪🇺 EU ELECTIONS ON THE HORIZON

Countries like Hungary, Slovenia, Sweden, Denmark all have upcoming elections this year, and EU citizens are prepared to make their voices heard. Will the EU vote against Brussels’ centralization and overreaching bureaucracy?

The EU’s upcoming election dates: Hungarian Parliamentary election: April 12, 2026 Slovenian Parliamentary election: March 22, 2026 Cyprus Parliamentary election: May 24, 2026 Swedish Legislative elections: September 13, 2026 Denmark Legislative elections: Expected in the autumn

While some countries, like France, have clung tightly to the elitist centralization of the EU, massive conservative sweeps in Poland, huge leaps in Romania, and the rise of the AfD in Germany show their desire for decentralized governance in Europe.

Europeans want their freedoms back, and they refuse to hand more power over to Brussels bureaucrats. 2026 is going to be a critical year for Europe. The countdown begins.
