March 13, 2025 – EU-US Forum Tip Sheet

Welcome to the EU-US Forum Weekly Tip Sheet, your go-to product for information about the EU-US Forum and its work, timely updates on the dangerous far-left ideas coming out of the European Union, and detailed analysis on the key players influencing European politics.

We send this out weekly to keep you apprised of the most important political and policy topics in Europe as we continue to work toward our mission of exposing the EU’s radical agenda and the threat it poses to the US and Western Civilization.

1. 📵CENSORSHIP COSTS EU CITIZENS €4.4 MILLION

A new report reveals that EU citizens are practically paying the government to censor their speech.

New insights show the EU is using taxpayer dollars to fund non-governmental organizations (NGOs) aligned with their political agenda to stop “hate speech” online.

The multi-million Euro project is designed to strengthen the “Code of Conduct on hate speech” in the EU, which means the NGOs selected will work in a database and find “hate” speech online. The project involves events and workshops in an effort to limit free speech in Europe.

Adina Portaru, senior counsel for ADF International, told the European Conservative:

Democracy is impossible without free speech. The argument that in order to “save democracy” we must kill it by cracking down on freedom of expression, is totally contradictory. Europe must give up the attempt to impose their power and control on others and allow free speech to be protected online, especially as the global nature of social media means a threat to free speech anywhere is a threat to free speech everywhere. Meanwhile, in America, the new administration has made its commitment to free speech clear. So, it’s all the more important to end attempts to impose censorship in Europe now, to avoid unprecedented tensions within the West on the fundamental human right of freedom of expression.

There is no freedom without free speech!

2. 😰GERMANY LOSES FAITH IN MERZ

Just two weeks after the German elections, more than half of Germans are disappointed with their soon-to-be Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, and only one in three Germans say he will do a good job.

A new poll this week shows that 52% of German respondents do not believe Merz will be a good Chancellor, while support from his own party declines, with just 74% of the CDU party followers believing that Merz will be a good Chancellor.

It is suspected that those who voted for CDU are disappointed with Merz’s radical U-turns on the policies he campaigned on. His quick alliance with the far-left and outright rejection of AfD, the party that a large bloc of Germans support, may have something to do with his abysmal approval rating.

Remember: Directly after the CDU party won the election, Merz backtracked his stance prior to the election to close Germany’s borders and told Germans: “None of us are talking about border closures.

These findings come as no surprise after January polling from the EU-US Forum showed 61% of Germans said the far-left – the people Merz is now teaming up with – is a BAD thing. Our polling also showed 70% of Germans disapprove of Olaf Scholz… Merz needs to listen to the will of his people before he ends up like the former Chancellor.

ROMANIAN FRONT-RUNNER BANNED FROM ELECTION

This week, the Constitutional Court of Romania ruled to uphold a ban on Romanian front-runner Călin Georgescu from running in the Presidential election.

After already annulling the first Presidential election where Georgescu was victorious and having police take him in for questioning, Romania’s top court stripped their country of any ounce of Democracy.

Conservative Members of Parliament are being SHUT DOWN by fellow MEPs as they try to raise awareness about the issue in Romania on the floor of the European Parliament.

The EU loves to throw around their slogan “Democracy in Action,” someone should ask Brussels if what’s happening in Romania sounds like Democracy in Action…

An EPP vice-chair shot down conservative MEPs’ attempts to call out this anti-democratic issue in Romania, saying they are seeking “to create the false impression that the rule of law in Romania is in danger.

NEWS FLASH: Democracy is in danger in Romania, and the majority of the EU is turning a blind eye.

Large protests have begun across the country:
