April 10, 2025 – EU-US Forum Tip Sheet

Welcome to the EU-US Forum Weekly Tip Sheet, your go-to product for information about the EU-US Forum and its work, timely updates on the dangerous far-left ideas coming out of the European Union, and detailed analysis on the key players influencing European politics.

We send this out weekly to keep you apprised of the most important political and policy topics in Europe as we continue to work toward our mission of exposing the EU’s radical agenda and the threat it poses to the US and Western Civilization.

1. 🚔 CENSORSHIP: JOURNALIST JAILED IN GERMANY

In a sickening slight to free speech, the German editor for the Deutschland-Kurier, David Bendels, has been given a seven-month prison sentence and fined nearly 60% of his annual income for sharing a meme?!

The meme depicts Interior Minister and member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) Nancy Faeser holding a sign altered to read, “I hate freedom of speech.

This conviction, reportedly initiated by Faeser’s personal complaint, marks an alarming escalation in the German government’s campaign cracking down on dissenting voices.

Bendels has vowed to appeal, emphasizing the critical fight for press freedom and expression in maintaining democracy. He stated:

We will not accept this verdict and will defend ourselves against it using all legal means. The Deutschland-Kurier and I personally will continue the just struggle for freedom of the press and freedom of expression, which is indispensable for the continued existence of democracy in Germany, resolutely, stably and with all consistency.

Members of the AfD have criticized the ruling, like AfD member Björn Höcke posting on X:

German politicians, responsible for the deindustrialization of our country and tearing its citizens apart from each other, made Germany a laughingstock of the world. They armor themselves and attack freedom of speech again and again, ending our constitutional democracy. We have been warned by Donald Trump and Elon Musk: The enemies of freedom are found within the EU-governments!

This case underscores a troubling trend in Germany’s approach to online speech, where authorities are increasingly policing content, raising concerns about the erosion of fundamental liberties.

If that doesn’t worry you, you’re not paying attention.

2. 😰 FRANCE FACES MASS INTERNAL TERRORIST THREATS

It’s time for a hard reset.

Recent reports from the European Conservative highlight a disturbing trend in France: a surge in terrorist threats from radicalized Islamist youth, with 70% of foiled attacks involving individuals under 21 years old.

This alarming development underscores the dangers of unchecked mass immigration and radical border policies across the European Union.

A recent foiled plot this month involved a 19-year-old suspect who plotted an attack in the center of Dunkirk. A letter of allegiance to the Islamic State was found in his apartment.

The influx of migrants without vetting has facilitated the spread of radical ideologies, jeopardizing the safety and cultural fabric of European nations.

JUST THIS WEEK – Confidential documents leaked to Germany’s Welt am Sonntag found that France has surpassed Germany for the first time in recent history as the top destination in the EU for alleged asylum seekers.

Even France’s liberal PM admitted in January that the country was being “submerged” by mass migration, but still, nothing has been done.

It’s imperative that lawmakers realize their progressive open-border policies have put their country at risk. It’s time to pivot.

This is what unchecked immigration and failed assimilation lead to.

Europe must wake up.

🇷🇴 CONSERVATIVES STILL MAKING INROADS IN ROMANIAN ELECTION

Despite the political witch hunt and subsequent disqualification of Călin Georgescu, the conservatives in Romania are still making their voices heard.

Following Georgescu’s ban from the presidential race, Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) swiftly adapted by nominating its leader, George Simion, as the new presidential candidate.

Simion’s candidacy has garnered significant support. Polls show a clear shift in public sentiment toward national sovereignty and traditional values, indicating he is a front-runner in the upcoming election with 28% support.

American conservative leaders, like Vice President JD Vance, have been very vocal about their opposition to the Romanian court’s decision to bar Călin Georgescu from the Presidential election.

JUST ANNOUNCED: Donald Trump Jr. will travel to Romania ahead of the election in April.

Crin Antonescu — backed by both the PSD & PNL (Romania’s major parties) — is trailing in the polls with just 26% and lacks grassroots energy. Many view him as a symbol of the status quo.

Romanians are DONE with EU overreach. They’re demanding sovereignty, national pride, and leadership that fights for them, not for Brussels.
