Welcome to the EU-US Forum Weekly Tip Sheet, your go-to product for information about the EU-US Forum and its work, timely updates on the dangerous far-left ideas coming out of the European Union, and detailed analysis on the key players influencing European politics.
We send this out weekly to keep you apprised of the most important political and policy topics in Europe as we continue to work toward our mission of exposing the EU’s radical agenda and the threat it poses to the US and Western Civilization.
1. ⚔️ THE BRUSSELS CLIMATE CRUSADE
The EU Commission has decided to push forward with an extreme climate plan to cut emissions by 90% by 2040… even as European voters continue to reject the Green Party and climate extremism.
Only six out of 27 EU member states support the plan. And instead of pausing to reflect on such strong opposition, the Commission is plowing ahead.
The consequences are piling up… European gas prices could get up to 4 times higher than prices in the U.S.
Because of this, major manufacturers across the industry are packing their bags. The founder of the chemical giant, INEOS, Jim Ratcliffe, warned that half of Europe’s chemical sector could vanish within a decade if this keeps up. Europe’s overregulation is making it impossible to compete or even stay in business.
So the question becomes: is the EU really willing to sacrifice its economy for the sake of scoring points with the radical left through virtue signaling?
At some point, even Brussels will have to choose between ideological purity and practical governance. Until then, Europe’s industries and workers are stuck holding the (recyclable) bag.
2. 🚨 FREE SPEECH PUT IN HANDCUFFS
In today’s Europe, free speech isn’t just under attack; it’s illegal if you hold the “wrong” beliefs or say the “wrong” thing.
The speech police have tightened their grip, armed with weaponized laws and an army of bureaucrats patrolling thoughts as if they were crimes.
An unidentified Dutch woman, at 35 weeks pregnant, stood outside of an abortion clinic to hand out leaflets and brochures to those potentially headed in, in an effort to change their minds. Instead of speaking with the woman, police placed her in handcuffs. The woman was not causing any issues, but police claimed she was disturbing the peace, simply for telling people there are other options.
This relates back to the bigger freedom of speech issue at hand in Europe. REMEMBER, the CBS “60 Minutes” segment revealing how Germany aggressively prosecutes online “hate speech,” sending dawn raids to arrest people for insults or reposted content. Prosecutors openly stated that insulting someone, even a politician, can be a crime, particularly online, because “on the internet, it stays there”. Vice President JD Vance slammed this as “Orwellian,” warning that it strains Europe, U.S. relations, and undermines free expression.
Leaders in Europe need to back off censorship and protect their citizens from regulations that impede basic rights. EU-US Forum board member Matt Mowers has always taken a strong stance on free speech, saying:
“They’ve gotta get serious about protecting free speech. They’ve gotta get serious about ensuring that there’s individual liberty and rights protected.”
What is happening in Europe isn’t freedom. It’s a soft totalitarianism and bureaucratic doublespeak. And if conservatives don’t speak up now, we may soon find that saying nothing at all is far more dangerous.
🔎 EU WATCHDOG DEMANDS ACCESS TO FINANCIAL BODIES AMID TRANSPARENCY ISSUES
The European Court of Auditors (ECA) is ringing the alarm bell—and rightly so.
In its latest report, the EU’s financial watchdog revealed it still can’t fully audit vast areas of EU spending, including funds managed by the European Investment Bank, the European Stability Mechanism, and various EU-run joint undertakings.
Ahead of the release of the Multiannual Financial Framework for the 2028-2034 time period, auditors said they couldn’t access the full range of financial instruments overseen by the EU.
These entities handle trillions in taxpayer euros, and the EU sees no reason they should be held accountable by anyone. That means no meaningful oversight, no proper access to documents, no right to assess risk systems, and no way to follow the money.
Auditors and Citizens alike are demanding that every financial instrument and transaction made by the EU governing body be heavily scrutinized. Widespread calls for oversight over the 2028 Multiannual Financial Framework are being made, and EU citizens want to know how their money is being handled.
The EU needs to be held accountable for its lack of transparency and shady financial regulations. The financial instruments used need to be monitored in order to ensure full transparency and accountability to the citizens of the EU. Bureaucrats in Brussels must be more honest with the people the govern.
