Welcome to the EU-US Forum Weekly Tip Sheet, your go-to product for information about the EU-US Forum and its work, timely updates on the dangerous far-left ideas coming out of the European Union, and detailed analysis on the key players influencing European politics.
We send this out weekly to keep you apprised of the most important political and policy topics in Europe as we continue to work toward our mission of exposing the EU’s radical agenda and the threat it poses to the US and Western Civilization.
1. THANK YOU PRESIDENT TRUMP!: Did President-elect Trump tear apart Germany’s far-Left ruling coalition? Just as the 2024 US election results sent “shock waves across Europe,” The Traffic Light coalition (Social Democratic Party, Greens, and Free Democratic party) has collapsedand snap elections will be held on February 23, 2025, following a vote of confidence to be held December 16. In the end, the Social Democrats and Greens’ love affair with overspending and a “green energy revolution” forced them to break from the fiscally conservative Free Democrats.
The drawn-out breakup started last year when the courts ruled their €60 billion spending spree unconstitutional in addition to record-breaking disapproval ratings. The rise in popularity of conservatism across Germany (and the West!) has also put the coalition to the test. After the upcoming elections, it’s likely that conservative parties – Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU) – will form a coalition together with another party. CDU’s leader, Freidrich Merz, is lined up to become the next chancellor. We’ll have to see if polls change from these current predictions.
2. ANTISEMETIC TERROR 😳: After brutally chasing and attacking Jews who attended an Israeli football game just days before in a “pogrom” and a “Jew hunt,” the streets of Amsterdam remain filled with antisemitic “violent pro-Palestine protesters” who are lighting fireworks towards cars and trams on fire, yelling “Cancer Jews” and “free Palestine.”
Even a kid’s football team, set up by Holocaust survivors in the 70s, was attacked by “a gang of Arab youths” with knives and sticks. Sickening.
Due to the rising level of attacks and threats, Israel’s National Security Council is warning Jews in Europe to take precautions in anticipation of more attacks. They urge Jews in Europe to “avoid attending Israeli sports/cultural events abroad,” and to “be extra careful about concealing anything that could identify you as Israeli/Jewish.”
3. 🚜 MORE FARMER UNREST: Will the bureaucrats ever listen?! French farmers are set to protest against another horrible EU policy in the works – an agriculture trade agreement with South America that would flood the EU market with very cheap goods, setting back the EU’s own farmers and their products.
The European Commission is already trying to “bribe” their farmers with €10 each to accept the deal. Farmers need less regulation and the government hands off their industry, not a few euros thrown at them for added hindrances.
One French farmer commented that the prospective trade agreement is a “provocation for European farmers” which “would consist of selling off our agriculture and condemning the sustainability of our farms by importing food that Europe does not want.”
Belgian and Austrian farmers are also in discussions about future protests against the deal.
LET’S STRIKE A DEAL: On Friday, led by Hungary and their EU Presidency, the EU agreed to the “Budapest Declaration on the New European Competitiveness Deal.” The economic agreement was in response to Draghi’s report back in September on Europe’s lagging competitiveness, especially compared to the U.S. and China.
The declaration’s efforts are aimed at strengthening the EU’s Single Market, creating an EU Savings and Investments Union, significantly reducing administrative and regulatory burdens, developing an all-encompassing industrial strategy, more spending on R&D, growing their technological abilities, and working towards energy sovereignty and climate neutrality by 2050.
