Welcome to the EU-US Forum Weekly Tip Sheet, your go-to product for information about the EU-US Forum and its work, timely updates on the dangerous far-left ideas coming out of the European Union, and detailed analysis on the key players influencing European politics.
We send this out weekly to keep you apprised of the most important political and policy topics in Europe as we continue to work toward our mission of exposing the EU’s radical agenda and the threat it poses to the US and Western Civilization.
1. NEW FRENCH PM? 🤔: Macron says he’s not going to step down as President and is dragging his feet yet again to find a Prime Minister his divided National Assembly will support. He has kept conservatives out of discussions on the next PM in an effort to nip their political power, retreating to his so-called “center” and far-left parties.
2. VDL SELLS OUT FARMERS: EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is touting her new trade deal that sells out European farmers to South America.
The deal removes most import taxes on South American agriculture products, allowing them to tightly compete with European farmers, who are already struggling under the EU’s environmental overregulation.
To struggling European farmers, this deal may end their careers.
France has been strongly opposed to this deal, but with their own political turmoil, VDL put the pedal to the medal to secure the deal. Poland is also against the deal, and the two nations hope Italy will join them to gain enough support to end it.
On the other hand, Germany (VDL’s home country) is the biggest proponent of the deal…and the graph below shows why.
3. FINALLY!: It’s been a decade since the European migrant crisis began, and FINALLY, member states are taking action, signaling a change to their open borders policies.
Denmark is working on tightening deportation orders for any migrants who commit crimes. Officials cite immigrants’ over representation in crime statistics, especially violent crimes, for the need for change.
Additionally, Sweden is going to look into those with refugee status who are visiting the nations they supposedly fled from.
And as we mentioned last week, the EU is said to be making illegal immigrant deportations a priority for its new term.

The agreement clarifies the definitions of migrant trafficking crimes, matches up penalties across member states, requires member states to ensure enforcement of the laws, and gather and share data on illegal migrant trafficking.
