Welcome to the EU-US Forum Weekly Tip Sheet, your go-to product for information about the EU-US Forum and its work, timely updates on the dangerous far-left ideas coming out of the European Union, and detailed analysis on the key players influencing European politics.
We send this out weekly to keep you apprised of the most important political and policy topics in Europe as we continue to work toward our mission of exposing the EU’s radical agenda and the threat it poses to the US and Western Civilization.
1. SCHOLZ DOWN – WHO’S NEXT? 🤔: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz lost a vote of confidence Monday, with 55% of the Bundestag voting against him and 16% abstaining. Because of the vote, early elections will be held in February for the Bundestag and Chancellorship.
EU-US Forum Founding Board Member Matt Mowers commented, “We are hopeful Scholz’s failures will be a wakeup call to Germany‘s ruling class that conservative principles should guide their new way forward.”
Polls show center parties, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU), in the lead with 31% and conservative AfD in second with 20%. That may sound like a good sign, but CDU/CSU are expected to form a coalition with the current party in power, the Social Democrats, which have 17% of the vote, instead of AfD. It may just end up being the same old, same old in Germany. 🤷♂️
Germany must elect conservative leaders over mainstream leaders like Scholz, who refuse to listen to the will of the people.

2. FRENCH IMPLOSION CONTINUES 🤯: Macron announced a new Prime Minister, François Bayrou, on Friday. The Macron ally is the “only person in Paris [Macron] is indebted to,” and former French President François Hollande says that “Paradoxically it can give François Bayrou a freedom that he wouldn’t have normally had.” POLITICO writes, “Bayrou’s victory is also seen as another sign of how weakened Macron has become.” And Le Pen is saying Macron is “done” and that he has “lost his grip on the international scene, and is at odds with everyone.”
Bayrou comes in with daunting tasks, needing to handle the budget (which the Assembly just passed a special bill yesterday to continue 2024’s budget briefly into 2025) and the deficit. This comes as Bayrou previously ran on reducing France’s debt.
Notably, Bayrou will support Le Pen’s desired reform of France’s two-round election system to better reflect the will of the voters.
As you may remember from the July elections, Le Pen’s National Rally now has the third largest share of seats in Parliament despite the party receiving the most amount of votes by over 10% from each of the two parties that supersede it in the Assembly. France’s electoral system also allowed Macron to change the course of the election after getting drubbed by National Rally in the first round.
If achieved, this systematic change could greatly benefit the conservative’s representation in government to be much more proportionate to its popularity with voters.
3. 1 IN 5 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS COMMIT CRIMES 🔪: Italian officials found that one in five illegal immigrants in Italy commit additional crimes outside of being there illegally and that they are increasing the crime rates in the country. Although they only make up 1% (that can be tracked) of Italy’s population, they commit 9% of the crimes.
In the cities, it’s even worse – 65% of crimes in Milan are by immigrants. Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said, “Those who think that integration only happens through the issuing of a residence permit are wrong.”
Last month, PM Meloni pushed for major reforms to Europe’s immigration policies to combat crimes against women and girls. Matteo Salvini also said, “Defending girls also means recognising the inevitable and growing incidence of foreign aggressors.”

German CDU Leader Says 400K Syrians ‘Must Go Back’Friedrich Merz, leader of Germany’s Christian Democrat Union (CDU), has stated said 400,000 Syrian asylum seekers “have no place in Germany” and should return back to Syria.
Merz blamed the welfare crisis on jobless refugees, arguing that those who don’t contribute to society “must go back.”
Official data shows 63% of Germany’s welfare claimants, or 2.54 million people, have a migration background.
- @EvaVlaar: Tomorrow is a crucial day for the future of Europe. Matteo Salvini, who’s facing up to 6 years in jail for defending Italy’s borders and putting a stop to mass migration, will finally hear his sentencing. The only fair verdict is acquittal but with our judiciary systems infiltrated and corrupted by left wing activists we can’t be sure.In any case, Salvini proved he’s a man of actions and not just words – he should be reinstated as minister of Interior.
EU HIKES UP SPAIN’S FUEL PRICES 📈
Europe loves to penalize drivers for not being “environmentally friendly.” Remember, just earlier this year, Germany wanted to BAN DRIVING ON WEEKENDS! And now, the EU is pressuring Spain to increase their diesel prices for their Green Agenda, saying that the increased costs will help them reach their emission targets. 🤔
This policy would disproportionately impact those without newer cars as well as the transportation and logistics industries.
The European Conservative said, “Brussels’ war on diesel, affordable fuel, and older vehicles reflects its growing appetite for dictating how people live and travel, regardless of its economic impact on hard-working citizens. As Spain falls in line with the EU’s agenda, drivers are left footing the bill.”
